Cowardly's cognomen causes him concern.
"The Cowardly Lion Changes His Name" by March Laumer and illustrated by Tony Moses is the third item and second story in Oziana 1971. Concerned that te has been called only Lion or The Cowardly Lion ever since he met Dorothy, he heads off to the prairie where he used to live to rediscover his original name. While he is successful, he also discovers that his name carries with it a fate that he is not yet ready to face, and he runs back to the Emerald City to tell his story to Betsy Bobbin, Jack Pumpkinhead, and Tik-Tok. Betsy comes up with the idea that if the Lion changes his name, he will be safe from his fate, but things have a way of not working out so smoothly.
